Los Angeles

November 1984

To get this shot of Los Angeles I lugged my tripod up the fire escape of what I think was a girl's dorm on the University of Southern California campus. As I waited for the sun to set, I had to keep ducking down every time a USC security guard came by. If it had been a really clear day (a rarity in Southern California) you would have been able to see mountains behind the skyline, which would have made it a more dramatic photo. It was shot with a 105mm lens on Ektachrome 64 with a one-second exposure.
