National Museum

This is a side view of the National Museum, which stands at the top of Wenceslas Square. Inside this building, which was completed in 1891, you can find exhibits of national and natural history. Because of its location on the square, it has been involved in plenty of historical dramas over the years. In 1968 the Soviets repeatedly fired on the museum with their tanks, and in 1969 Jan Palach burned himself to death on its steps to protest the occupation.
